The Clitoris

the clitoris is the 'pleasure centre' of the vulva. it has been compared to an iceberg as it is 10 times bigger under the surface - 90% of the organ is underneath.
it has 8,000 nerve endings, 2-3 times as many as the penis.

the 'G-Spot' is the back/internal part of the clitoris, which can be stimulated inside the vagina. it is suggested that all orgasms (internal or external) are therefore clitoral.
a study suggested that only 18% of women 'vaginally' orgasm (through penetration), and that most orgasms are achieved through external, clitoral stimulation.

over time, the clitoris has had many nicknames including: 'Little Hill', 'Electric Bell' and 'Devil's Teat'.

the structure of the clitoris was not fully realised until 1998, when Professor Helen O'Connell published research results on the deeper structure of the clitoris.
